I met Itamar and Taylor back in 2017. I was at a point where I knew I needed to get into better shape and didn’t want to try a “conventional gym”. I knew that wouldn’t work and I would most likely quit rather quickly. I had tried CrossFit once before and wasn’t a big fan of the place, but liked the concept of being able to show up and having your workout programmed and also adapted where necessary.
You know you are always apprehensive walking into the unknown, but when you are greeted and made to feel comfortable about what lies ahead, it all becomes much easier. I eased into it with private sessions with Itamar which made things easier, especially learning all of the CrossFit terminology and movements.
Fast forward a few years I kind of lost my passion (Yup, just got lazy) and took a “break”. But every so often I would get a text from Itamar to check in. I would lie and say I was coming back, he didn’t believe me and then checked back in a few weeks later. When I gave up, he didn’t!
I am recently back in it for a few weeks now and back to privates with Itamar. Bright spots are a bit different now. In the past it was how heavy I could lift something, now it’s just making it to the 30 minute mark. As you get a bit older your “fitness goals” change, but the desire to be healthy is what keeps me going and so far it keeps me coming back.
If I could go back in time before CrossFit and also during my “break”, I would tell myself not to stop. It’s really hard to keep starting over…
